Netflix is adding a new show to their roster, and it is sure to change the game and hopefully a few minds!
Yes, “Dear White People” is an upcoming series set to debut this month on Netflix and from the title alone, we can hardly wait for the premiere! Set in a modern day college campus, the program follows a group of young pro-black activists and student leaders as they attempt to bring awareness to the blatant privilege and systemic racism that plagues our nation in a fresh and surprisingly humorous way! Based the 2014 feature film of the same name, DWP explores the complexities of interracial relationships, personal identity, and the craziness of college life in one show!
Led by “Hit The Floor” actress, Logan Browning as Samantha White–the “sharp tongued” host of the University’s Radio station, DWP bodes an impressive list of talent taking part in the innovative Netflix series (including Nia Long, Brandon Bell , Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, and John Patrick Amedori)
Recently the beloved streaming service released a trailer for the much anticipated show and it is.. EVERYTHING! In the clip, we see glimpses of each character and their corresponding stories along with mentions of vibrators, strong yet thought-provoking opinions, and a large amount of uncomfortable white people.
Check out the trailer for “Dear White People” below:
We can only assume that the things will only get increasingly uncomfortable for Caucasian viewers as the show progresses… but in the mean time WE ARE SO HERE FOR THIS!
There’s nothing wrong with being uncomfortable–We as humans grow the most when we are pushed out of our comfort zones and quite frankly America needs to be uncomfortable right now–that is how we progress! When there is resistance and we are made uneasy, we learn to work with it and not against it to coordinate an easier and more efficient dynamic. This show is exactly what we need right now and we couldn’t be more excited!
“Dear White People” Premieres April 28th on Netflix!
