“The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” Malcolm X.
Preparation is the one of the keys to success and your success is connected to your actions. Male Model/Actor Darryl Chambers has this down to a science. The young man is no stranger to hard work and he makes a daily effort to surpass his potential. We had a chance to connect with this tenacious individual and he had some interesting things to share.
- What does being a black male model mean to you?
To me being a black male model means having an opportunity to be able to showcase myself in a way to represent my culture as well as black people in a positive light showing that there isn’t any particular way that we
- If you could pick any 3 brands to represent, who would they be and why?
If I could pick any three brands to represent (not limited to clothing) they would be Vince Camuto and Louis Vuitton just to name two established lines, because I like their brand as a whole. I would really like to work with an up and coming line for someone who is just really starting up because I like honestly like to work with people who I can benefit as far as a startup. When starting with a brand it allows you to be “The First Face” or the brand as well as gives you the opportunity to represent the brand the way that they would like it to be represented as a first impression to the masses.
- What male model(s) inspired you to follow your dreams?
As oddly as this may seem, there’s not really just any big time male models that inspire me; it’s more so actors who I’ve saw work their way up now that I’m into acting myself.
- How did you getting into acting?
I’ve learned that modeling now normally leads to acting, and it’s also where a great deal of the money is circulated throughout the industry; which is one reason that I wanted to get into acting. The second reason that I wanted to get into acting is because I like doing things that will challenge me; and contrary to belief, acting is a very challenging craft.
- As a black male model, what message would you like your brand to send to the millennials?
The message that I would like to send to the millennials is that you can do anything that you put your mind to through prayer and hard work as well as doing it your own way. You don’t have to listen to what people say that you should do or be; do whatever it is that you want to do and be what you want to be!
- What are you views on racism and how does that impact your industry?
My views on racism is that it is real from different spectrums, it doesn’t even necessarily have to be white vs. black. Racism in the industry exist very much so, I’ll make it plain and simple for you. Take a look at certain established brands that’s out, and then take a look at their campaigns and ask yourself do you see a variety of races in them? That should give you your answer which is ludicrous to me because they’ve definitely accepted funds from a variety of races.
- What can we expect from you in 2018?
I have a couple of commercials awaiting release, a couple of major fashion shows, and a publication feature. Everyone stay tuned for what is to come.
- Tell us about your role in the series PURE? What can we expect?
My role in “Pure” is quite interacting LOL. Well first off “Pure” is a series created by Atiya Lilly-Gassaway based off of the life of a particular persons dating experiences. My particular character is a male dancer; I’ll just leave it at that ha-ha.
